Another trip to Bandung for culinary experiences. This time, we will try variety of delicious chicken porridge to enjoy in the cold air of beautiful Bandung in the evening.
Eating chicken porridge for some people can be categorised as the main meal, for some are also considered for snacking time. Whichever you choose, it is fine, because it doesn’t matter, you may consider chicken porridge either as heavy meal or snack.
There are 4 places that I went during in Bandung to enjoy my chicken porridge. Each place has their own chicken porridge style with delicious and different flavours as well as various toppings at your choice.
1. PMI Chicken Porridge
is located at Ambon Street, nearby Riau Street area. Its chicken porridge has white colour, a bit thick and already has a taste without adding any spices and seasonings. My toppings that I choose are steam chicken, chicken liver, cakwe (fried dough) and served with chilli sauce, sweet soy sauce, green onion and white crackers. For more spicier taste, you can ask for extra chili sauce. Interested to try ?

2. Bubur Ayam Pak Zaenal
which is located at Ir. H. Juanda Street or known as Dago Street. The chicken porridge is cooked with their secret recipe of chicken broth and comes with slightly brownish colour. For you who enjoy eating a thick texture of porridge, then this can be an option. My toppings this time are steam chicken, cakwe (fried dough) and emping (crunchy chips). Served with orange colour of spicy chilli sauce and sweet soy sauce giving me an interesting taste.

3. Bubur Ayam Wa Ucung
Let’s check Wa Ucung Chicken Porridge located at Siliwangi Street, Hegarmanah area. Its chicken porridge has white colour, slight thick texture, and nice flavour without the need to add extra spices and seasonings. Toppings of my choice are steam chicken, cakwe (fried dough), hardboiled egg. Chicken porridge is served with soybeans, chopped celery, fried onion, red chili sauce, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce and white crackers. The red chili sauce has strong spicy taste which is good for spicy fans like me.
4. Bubur Ayam Pak H. Amid Pajajaran
For my last evening in Bandung, I tried Pak H. Amid Pajajaran Chicken Porridge which located on the main road of Pajajaran Street, it is easy to find. There are many toppings to choose and my evening pick will be steam chicken, chicken liver, cakwe (fried dough) which is served with chili sauce, soy sauce and orange crackers. The colour of porridge is white and has a slightly thick texture. I would say that their portion is quite a lot (next time, it seems I will order half portion only). For you who like a slightly plain taste, then this might be a choice. You just need to add sweet soy sauce, soy sauce and chilli sauce if you like.
I find that some of chicken porridge that I ordered have quite large portion. If you don’t want to get really full then you can consider ordering half portion. The price for one portion of chicken porridge will vary depending on the toppings, range from IDR 19,000 per portion.
All chicken porridges were ordered via delivery or take away services, and therefore, the cutleries used for the photos are from my private collection.
So, please enjoy hunting chicken porridge in the beautiful evening and cold weather of Bandung when you are visiting the city.
